Zhanna - Adventures in Time and Alternative Realities

I never did come up with a title for this, but it was one of my proposals for The DFC, and the one I remain most excited about. Because it was a story that featured time travel, and because that theme clashed with John Blake, it was put on the back-burner. But I definitely want to get going on it one day!

The tale features the adventures of Zhanna Maria Anapel Lydoni-Bute, who lives a rather secluded life in 'the big house' with her parents, and new boy in the village, Martin Kreikenbeek, who stumbles into the grounds of Zhanna's home after being chased by school bullies. It's high adventure from then on... naturally.

  1. Wow - I love the costume designs. I'd really like to see more of this!

  2. I probably shouldn't say this, but I'd much rather have seen that than John Blake!

  3. Thanks James. You're nice!

I guess there was something in The DFC for everyone, Dave, but not everything in The DFC was for someone (I think that works :-)). Anyway - my Zhanna concept might look good, but I may have ruined it all by actually writing and drawing it!

  4. I think it's a crime that this never turned up! Astonishing drawings!

  5. I remember seeing that picture of the high priestess + acolytes (?) on the wall at the DFC offices and saying to Leo, "Blimey, we're going to have to raise our game to deserve a place alongside this kind of stuff!"

I'm sure you wouldn't have ruined it, Garen! I know there's always that fear with the projects that are dearest to one's heart, though :-)

Taking the Panglossian view, maybe it worked out better that Ben & co passed on it, coz at least that presumably means there's no question of the rights being tied up at Random House.

  6. Panglossian is my watchword! Ben did like it, it would just have had to wait a while for its slot. But yes - it is free of any contractual obligations :-)

Thank you so much for the kind words, Dave and Gary both - they're very welcome.
