The Phoenix

There are already a few news items and rumours circulating, but for a couple of blog posts from comic creators who were actually at last night's DFC/Phoenix gathering have a little look at these pieces by David Morris and Andrew Wildman.

Another thing to add, from editor Ben Sharpe, is that The Phoenix is independent of both Random House and David Fickling Books. More to come ...

Mezolith

The second album in the DFC Library is released today (April 1st). It starts with Poika and a bee, but travels a very long way from there. A stunning book in so many ways. Go - hunt and gather Mezolith!

Good Dog, Bad Dog

Shouting about the Library

Anybody else noticed the DFC Library flipbook teaser thingy on Random House's website?

There are nice sneak peeks of the first three books. It's all content that already appeared in the weekly comic, of course, but seeing those pages on-screen really gives the lustrous artwork a chance to shine.

Good luck with these, Ben, Adam, Dave and Kate. I'll be popping into Waterstones to move some copies to the front ;-)

Some good news from the Frankfurt Book Fair on the DFC Library, with three DFC favourites to see print next Spring - Mezolith by Adam Brockbank and Ben Haggarty, Good Dog, Bad Dog by Dave Shelton and Spider Moon by Kate Brown.

Oxford Literary Festival

We had several unexpected hitches on our panel on Saturday, but it was great to see everyone. See Sarah's blog for more photos.

Mitch and Daisy get adopted

Well not exactly but... The recent Exhibition of FRONTIER artwork at the Jaffe&Neale Bookshop also involved a competition. The brief was to produce a comic strip on an A4 piece of paper and in some way include the words Weird Wild and West. The proud winner was George Harris of Holy Trinity School, Chipping Norton.
As a recognition of his talents George recieved signed copies of the 11 issues of TheDFC featuring FRONTIER as well as the picture of Mitch and Daisy that was done for the 'Farewell Page' in the final issue of TheDFC. George is thrilled and looking forward to reading his bundle of DFCs this Easter break.
I think Mitch and Daisy have gone to a good home ;-)

Comics in The DFC

With The DFC ending at issue 43, some of the strips have been cut off in their prime. Luckily the remaining episodes of Monkey Nuts, Bodkin & the Bear, Donny Digits and Spider Moon have been put online for all to read and enjoy - see them at The DFC website.
